Last Deaf Golf League outing at Hidden Creek

On September 14 – Jeff, Kevin and I played at Hidden Creek for the final outing of the year. Jeff closed with a score of 44 while I shot 46 and Kevin shot 48. Kevin had to leave for work and Jeff and I continued to play the rest of the way. Funny how we both ended with a score of 89. He got 31 putts which was 4 putts more than I did. I want to thank everyone for participate deaf golf league this year. I hope we can meet again next year and try to bring more golfers together.

During this year, I used your scores in points system and to be honest, the points system seems to work well. The winner of this Deaf Golf League is Jeff Cecil. At the beginning of the season, Steve started to lead most of the way until Jeff and I caught up. Jeff climbed almost every outing except two nights he missed. Kevin joined late and he almost caught up with Bobby. We will continue to use the points system next year. Who knows? I may buy a plaque with a name on it and give it to the winner.

Brian and Jeff played at Valley View

August 23 – Jeff and I went to Valley View and played whole 18 holes before dark. At first, we started off 9 holes and then we realized we had plenty of time so we decided to play extra 9 holes. Jeff played an okay game and I had couple bad holes. But overall we did good. Our goal is to keep consistency in all golf plays. Jeff shot 86 and I shot 90. I shot in the water twice on each hole which hurt my chance to beat Jeff. If it wasn’t for that water, Jeff and I could tie. After 9th hole, we both watched Floyd Central girls golf meet and one girl from New Albany swung 200 yards and I thought boy, they sure are beating us up. LOL

Bobby shot 48 and won first place in the tourney

Bobby shot 48 who bettered the other two golfers. They played at Hidden Creek on the back 9 holes. The toughest holes are 14, 15 and 16 that has creek on the right hand side. If you hit bad slice or fade, typically you will end up in the creek. Also, Kevin said it was very hot that day (110 heat index). I hope everyone is doing okay after that. Kevin only putts 12 in 9 holes and that was the lowest of all year. That’s good putting. Congrats, Bobby for winning and Kevin for the lowest putts.

Kevin shot 41 on his third outing

Louisville, KY – Kevin shot his best round with the score of 41. He felt pretty good with his swings. Apparently, everyone seems to improve each round they play. I hope we can have many competition that would be lot of fun. Derrick played his best round and he was relaxed when playing his golf. I asked Kevin how Derrick’s playing and he said that I said to Derrick to relax when he’s trying to swing and he did. It must be working for him. I’m glad I could help him.

Sixth Week DGL at Shawnee

June 14, 2010 – 4 people came and played 9 holes on the day of heat. The heat index was 101 and my shirt was soaked wet cuz I wore cotton shirt. Bad combination, but I’m glad I’m doing okay. Later that evening, I got cramps on both calves so I drank gatorade. It helped a little and today, I’m little sore from that.

Guess what? Here is funny thing that happened on 5th hole. I was standing sideway away from Derrick and thought he only try to lay up. Well, he shot bad hook and almost hit me. Good thing, I paid attention and ran away. My heart was racing at the moment. From that point on, I stand behind them.

Fifth Week of Deaf Golf League

Tuesday, June 1 – Five guys came to play at Sun Valley golf and we started at front 9. We played okay game. I started off pretty well for the first 4 holes until someone hit me on my right leg (below calf and not on the shin, whew) with a golf ball. I collapsed and thought my calf torn muscle which holds my ankle up. My energy depleted quickly after the hit and made me weak. Plus it is pretty hot outside at the time. Then I got up after 10 minute and walked around. By the way, it’s been sore for about a week. What an evening!

Four guys came to play at Valley View golf on the other side Indiana and we started at back 9. We played okay game. Kevin V. was his first of the year and he thought he’s out of shape, but he played okay. He’ll be back with us later.

Fourth week Deaf Golf League @ Valley View (Indiana)

This is our fourth Deaf Golf League at Valley View Golf course in Indiana. We will meet after 5:30 pm and some of you can play earlier, but you must let me know who’s playing that evening so I can partner you together with someone else. It’s pretty open and little challenge to most of us.

A month ago, Jeff, Todd and myself played at Valley View and both of them really liked the course. They said they wouldn’t mind coming back again to play there. That’s the reason we will play this coming Tuesday, May 18. If you need a direction on how to get there, here is the address 3748 Lawrence Banet Rd.

The point system is doing pretty well and I’ll try to figure it out a different approach on point systems and see if there’s anything odd.

Four golfers played at Crescent Hill

May 4, 2010 – On a beautiful day with blue skies, four golfers went out to play at Crescent Hill which has lots of hills, but overall we played not so bad. By the way, it is not UK blue day. Just the fact that it was beautiful day outside with no rain or cloudy in sight. After all the raining on the other day, it was perfect day. The greens weren’t that bad as it was at Seneca. Too early to say at least. Some greens had slopes and not as difficult to read. We could have played better if we know what to putt.

Jeff and I were tied at 45 each with 18 putts for nine holes. Bobby had 51 with 18 putts as well. Last, Steve had the lowest putt, but his score was 52. It was ironic that all 3 golfers shot better than Steve and he beat us with putts. He didn’t do well with long irons which hurt his scores.

Third week of Deaf Golf League @ Crescent Hill

Our third deaf golf league outing is on May 4th, Tuesday. It will be at Crescent Hill Golf Course. The course has lot of hills and if you prefer to drive cart, it’s up to you.

Anyone who wants to go, please let Brian Timberlake know about you going. Also, if you decide you want to play earlier than 5:30 pm, then we’ll find someone who can play earlier to partner with you. Depends on number of golfers.
